3rd Annual "Planting the Seeds, Growing the Future" Green festival, Liberty, Florida

June 13, 2009

Mr. Clucky attended and met many local children attending the Green Festival held in Liberty, Florida to help support the festival’s founders promote a positive social-change in the way all people regard the environment. Planting the Seeds, Growing the Future is put on by Citizens for a Better South Florida whose goal is to provide a foundation of understanding on environmental issues in South Florida to diverse constituencies so that they can become involved in making decisions that will lead to a stronger community and a healthier environment. Focusing on education, they say, rather than on advocacy is the key to achieving our goals.

A near-death experience can change a life. This apparently was the case with Mr. Clucky. Activist Mark Buckley found the rooster bleeding and injured in the bushes outside his South Beach apartment. He nursed the bird back to health, and then began taking him on bike rides. Today, Mr. Clucky is a South Beach fixture. He's the mascot for Critical Mass, a group of Earth-friendly, bike-riding activists. Recently, he helped register voters at Farm Sanctuary Walk for Farm Animals.

Mr. Clucky Leads the Walk to Save Farm Animals

by Linda Bower Monday, Oct. 08, 2007 at 6:00 PM

On Sunday afternoon, October 7th, South Florida activists gathered outside the Wild Oats at 1020 Alton Road in Miami Beach to join Farm Sanctuary, the nation's leading farm animal protection organization, for the annual Walk for Farm Animals. Mr. Clucky and his pal Mark Buckley led the Miami Walk. This fun and inspiring celebration was duplicated in over 50 states across North America. In addition to promoting awareness about inhumane factory farming practices, walkers raised much needed funds to help sustain and ensure farm animal rescue, protection and advocacy efforts.

Registered walkers, wearing their Walk for Farm Animals T-shirts, designed by Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Berkeley Breathed, walked to show support for animals.
